Abstract :
Background: Indonesia has a high number of occupational diseases, especially in
the case of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). MSDs is a disorders of the
musculoskeletal system are caused by work risk factors. Work activities that are not
in accordance with the physical tolerance can result musculoskeletal disorders.
Several interventions are intended as an effort to overcome MSDs, including
ergonomics education and workplace stretching exercises.
Objective: To identify the difference effect between education ergonomics and
workplace stretching exercises to change the complaints of musculoskeletal
disorders.
Research Methods: This research uses literature study method. The time of this
research runs from February 2021 to July 2021. Journals search are performed on
the database google scholar and PubMed, with the keyword education ergonomics
or workplace stretching exercise on musculoskeletal disorders. The inclusion
criteria in this study were free full-text articles, in English language, published from
2015 to 2021, using the nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire measuring tools.
Research Results: The screening results obtained four ergonomic education
journals and three workplace stretching exercise journals. In the discussion of the
seven literatures, showed that there was an effect of each intervention on reducing
musculoskeletal disorders. There are differences in the physiological mechanisms
of the two interventions, where ergonomics education is based on changes in
perception and behavior, while workplace stretching is based on changes in
flexibility and muscle relaxation.
Conclusion: There is no difference in the effect between ergonomics education
with workplace stretching exercises on changes in musculoskeletal disorders
complaints. Both interventions can reduce musculoskeletal complaints, but based
on different physiological mechanism.
