Abstract :
Kaffir lime leaf essential oil is known to have many benefits, including as
an antioxidant. This study aims to determine the peel-off gel mask of kaffir lime
leaf essential oil (Citrus hystrix D.C) with the most optimum composition of PVA
and carbomer having antioxidant activity. Determination of the optimum formula
for the peel-off gel mask was carried out using Design Expert software version 11
of the Simple Lattice Design method, which obtained eight run formulas which
were then tested for their physical characteristics in the form of pH, adhesion,
spreadability, viscosity, and drying time. The results showed that the optimum
composition of the peel-off gel mask formula was PVA 4% and carbomer 2%
with a desirability value of 0.913. The resulting optimum formula was tested
again for its physical characteristics and compared with the results obtained using
the Simple Lattice Design method. The significance test for the prediction of the
optimum formula with the results showed a significance with a pH value of 0.698,
adhesion 0.841, spreadability 0.211, viscosity 0.352, and drying time 0.984, which
means there is no significant difference between the predictions of Simple Lattice
Design and the results of the study indicated by a significance value. each
response is more than 0.05. The optimal formula for peel-off gel mask of kaffir
lime leaf essential oil has antioxidant activity in the medium category with an IC50
value of 116.755 ppm.
