Abstract :
Excessive sun exposure causes sunburn, so protection is needed such as the
use of sunscreen. Flavonoids and anthocyanins in rosella flower petals can reduce
the intensity of exposure to the skin. This study aims to determine the effect of the
comparison of the composition of tween 80 and span 80, as well as determining the
optimum formula for physical characteristics using themethod Simplex Lattice
Design and knowing the potential of the ethyl acetate fraction cream of rosella
flower ethanol extract as a sunscreen.
Rosella flowers were extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol
solvent for 5 days and remaceration for 2 days, followed by fractionation using a
liquid-liquid extraction method using a separating funnel, then optimization of
tween 80 and span 80 using themethod Simplex Lattice Design, then testing the
potential of the screen. solar cream ethyl acetate fraction of rosella flower ethanol
extract using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 290-320 nm.
Based on theequation, it is Simplex Lattice Design known the effect of each
component and the interaction of the two components. Based onoptimization
Design Expert 9.0.4, the combination of tween 80:span 80 = 8.423%:2.577 %. The
optimum formula test results obtained pH 6,0 ± 0,577, viscosity 275 275 ± 5 dPa.s,
adhesion 1.723 ± 0,005 second, dispersion of 6.466 ± 0,057 cm, and SPF value of
8.411,411± 0,08 which were included in the category of maximum protection.
