Abstract :
Pandan leaf extract (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) contains chemicals of
alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolics that are useful as antioxidants. The
advantages of peel-off gel are practical, do not need to be rinsed and do not clog
pores. The purpose of this study was to find out the comparison of the most optimal
combination of carbopol 940 and HPMC gelling agent base in the formula of peeloff gel antioxidant gel pandan leaf extract.
The extract is accelerated using 96% ethanol and then phytochemical
screening is carried out. Optimization of peel-off gel preparations of 1000ppm
pandan leaf extract and carbopol 940 base combination and HPMC specified using
Simplex Lattice Design. The response used is pH, scatter power, viscosity, sticking
power, and drying time. Verify the optimum formula with one sample T-Test from
SPSS. Test antioxidant activity using the ABTS method with Operating Time at 6
minutes and a maximum wavelength of 734.0 nm with a uv-vis spectrophotometer.
The yield of the extract was 8,02% and there were flavonoid, phenolic,
saponin and alkaloid compounds in phytochemical screening. Optimization of peeloff gel preparations of pandan leaf extract obtained a comparison of Carbopol 940
and HPMC of 0.773grams: 4,227grams with a desirability value of 0.789. pH test
score of 5±0.17; scatter power test value of 6,14±0,05; viscosity test value of
91,05±0,54; fixed power test value of 6.24±0.10; and the drying time value of
24,33±3,18. One Sample T-Test results showed no significant difference that meant
valid between SLD predictions and trial results. The results of antioxidant testing
on peel-off gel pandan leaf extract had an average IC50 value of 7.43±0.08 which
is classified as very strong.
