Abstract :
Blood sampling for hemoglobin level examination should be checked
immediately after blood collection. There are EDTA anticoagulants that are often
used, namely K2EDTA and K3EDTA. Examination using EDTA blood should be
carried out immediately, if it has to be postponed, it must pay attention to the
examination time limit. In this study, the anticoagulant K2EDTA was used which
was recommended by ICSH because it has stability in maintaining cell shape and
size. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in hemoglobin
levels that were checked immediately and delayed by 2 hours.
This type of research is experimental analytic using a cross sectional
approach. The sampling technique in this study is total sampling. The subjects of
this study were students of class 3A2 of the DIII Medical Laboratory Technology
Study Program at the Surakarta National Health Sciences College which opened
37 people. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Hematology,
National Health Sciences College, Surakarta. Data were obtained through filling
out informed consent. Hemoglobin levels were calculated using the
cyanmethemoglobin method.
Normality test was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk test and was not
normally distributed. The data was processed using a non-parametric test, namely
the Wilcoxon test and the p value (0.00) < (0.05).
The conclusion of this study is that there is a difference in hemoglobin
levels using the anticoagulant K2EDTA which is checked immediately and
delayed by 2 hours.
