Abstract :
Elderly is identical to various health decrease status especially physical health
status one of them is joint pain. Joint pain is caused by cartilage thinning causing friction
between the ends of the bones and caused inflation. Erythrocyte Sediment Rate is one of
the ways that commonly used by laboratory to detected inflation. This research was
conducted to found description of Erythrocyte Sediment Rate (ESR) on elderly with joint
pain complaint at Gedangan Village Grogol Subdistrict Sukoharjo District.
This research was a descriptive research using quota sampling of 17 venous blood
samples from elderly who had joint pain at Kamboja I Gedangan Village who already
signed informed consent. Erythrocyte Sediment Rate from these sample were examined
using Westergreen Method.
Research on Elderly with Joint Pain Compliant at Gedangan Village found that
from 17 samples that were examined on female respondents there was 1 respondent
(11,1%) had normal erythrocyte sedimentation rate and 8 respondents (88,5%) had
accelerated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, on male respondents there were 7 male
respondents (87,5%) had normal erythrocyte sedimentation rate and 1 male respondent
(12,5%) had accelerated erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
The conclusion of this research is female elderly (88,5%) experienced more
accelerated erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
