Abstract :
Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) is the source of anthocyanin.
Anthocyanin on purple sweet potato is higher than the others. Anthocyanin
pigment can be used to differentiate between acid and alkaline solutions. This
subtance can be used as a natural indicator in analysis of titration. The study was
aimed to test the accuracy and precision of the purple sweet potato?s extract as a
natural indicator. The test was conducted to salicylic acid analysis in the loose
powder. Extraction of purple sweet potato has done using ethanol 96% and HCl
1%. Measurement the accuracy and precision of the purple sweet potato?s extract
are using % recovery and % KV. The result of salicylic acid analysis is not qualify
from % recovery value for analyte concentrations more than 1% that is 97-103%.
Precision values qualify, that is less than 1.2%. Purple sweet potato?s extract
indicator has not the accuracy, and has good presicion as a natural indicator in
analysis of salicylic acid in the loose powder product.
