Abstract :
Pomegranate (Punica Granatum Linn) has flavonoid and saponin content
compoundsthat can inhibit bacterial growth. Pomegranate extract isformulated into
a spray hand sanitizer preparation that is more efficient in reducing bacteria on the
palm and more time efficient. This study aims to find out the influence of
differences in the concentration of pomegranate extract made can provide
antibacterial activity. Pomegranate extract is obtained through a maceration
extraction process using a 70% ethanol solvent for 5 days. The preparation of spray
hand sanitizer is made into 3 formulas, namely the concentration of pomegranate
extract 3%, 5%, and 7%. Spray Hand Sanitizer testing of pomegranate ethanol
extract (Punica Granatum Linn) includes pH test, organoleptic test, physical
stability test and antibacterial activity test against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria
with well method. Based on the tests conducted obtained the best formula, namely
formula 2 with a concentration of pomegranate extract of 7% this was concluded
according to tests of Stability, Ph, Organoleptis, and bacterial inhibitory power
