Abstract :
Health workers play an important role in providing prevention, diagnosis,
treatment, and care to people in various health care settings. Health workers are
prone to be exposed to a number of hazards both from biological, chemical,
ergonomic, physical, and stress/violence. To a reduce risk, health workers should
practice standard precautions in health care. This study aims to describe the
knowledge of health workers about Standard Precautions at Panti Waluyo Hospital,
Surakarta. This research is a non experimental research with a descriptive survey
design. The sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling. The sample
in this study amounted to 144 people. Respondent’s knowledge data was collected
using a questionnaire with a total of 11 questions that had been tested for validity
with Pearson’s correlation and reliability test with Cronbach’s Alpha which was
then analized using SPSS 25. The results showed that knowledge about standard
precautions was good, as many as 102 people (70,8%). Respondents with sufficient
knowledge were 38 people (26,4%), and with poor knowledge were 4 people (2,8%).
The conclusion of this study is that the level of knowledge of health workers about
standard precautions at Panti Waluyo Hospital Surakarta is good.
