Abstract :
Nosocomial infections that occur in hospitals in Indonesia are high. The
Indonesian government issues an infection prevention policy in hospitals and
other health facilities. Efforts to prevent nosocomial infections that can be done
are to increase the ability to prevent the transmission of nosocomial infections by
practicing hand hygiene. Hand hygiene is carried out with the aim of reducing the
number of microorganisms temporarily and removing dirt on the hands. The
purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and
compliance with the application of five moment hand hygiene for health workers
at the Griya Husada 2 Tasikmadu Clinic. This research is a quantitative research
with the type of correlation study. The sampling technique used was purposive
sampling, with 34 health workers as respondents. Data was collected by means of
a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out by testing the quality of the
instrument and statistical testing with SPSS version 21 for windows. The results
showed that the frequency of good knowledge levels was 29 respondents
(83.82%), and the application of five moment hand hygiene was 29 respondents
with a percentage (85.29%). The results of the chi square test obtained a p value
of 0.001 (p < 0.05) so that it can be concluded that there is a relationship between
the level of knowledge and the application of five moments of hand hygiene.
