ABSTRACT
Worm infection is a widespread health problem in the tropics and
subtropics. Based on the results of the survey it is seen that the condition of the
village road there is not all the asphalt, so if the rainy season arrives then certainly
the village road will flood. In addition, the location of SDN Jingah Habang Hilir
adjacent to a river that potentially transmits parasite Soil transmitted helminths
(STH). The purpose of this research is to know the description of STH on children of
SDN Jingah Habang Hilir Kecamatan Karang Intan Martapura. This research is a
descriptive survey that is a research method that takes a sample from a population
and uses a questionnaire as a means of data collection. The population studied in
this research is the students of SDN Jingah Habang Hilir which amounted to 117.
The number of samples used in this study are the students of classes 1,2, and 3
amounting to 57. In the sampling using stratified random sampling method. The
result of the research was 1 child (1.7%) infected by hookworm eggs while the
uninfected infection was 56 children (98,2%). Based on the result of this study, it can
be concluded that the percentage (%) of the number of worms in the children of SDN
Jingah Habang Hilir Karang Intan Martapura Sub-district is 1.7% of the positive
children infected by hookworm eggs and 98.2% of other children with negative
worms examination. Based on the conclusions it is suggested that local health
centers need to be counseled and appealed about a clean and healthy way of life in
the community so as to prevent the occurrence of infection of worms, and for the
school the need to provide knowledge about personal hygine to children and the need
to complement the facilities and infrastructure related to health.
