Abstract :
Abstract One of the pillars of successful management of Diabetes Mellitus is patient diet. However, not all patients are able to follow the established dietary recommendations. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of dietary management of diabetes mellitus on the compliance of DM patients in undergoing the DM diet in the Lotus Room of Sidoarjo Hospital. The design of this research was Quasy experiment with post test only control group design approach. Diabetes management as an independent variable and patient compliance as the dependent variable. The study population was all DM patients in the Lotus room at Sidoarjo Hospital with an average number of 57 patients per month. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling technique as many as 48 respondents. data was collected with a questionnaire instrument and tested with an independent t test. The results showed that the average adherence score in the experimental group = 52.75 was higher than the control group = 38.92 so that diet management had an effect on patient adherence in undergoing the DM diet. The results of the independent t test showed that the value of ? = 0.001 < ? = 0.05 then H0 was rejected so that there was an effect of DM diet management on patient compliance in undergoing a DM diet.
