ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF USING AUDIO DIGITAL STORIES ON IMPROVING STUDENTS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION AT THE THIRD GRADE OF SMAN 8 KENDARI RATNA JUITA A1D214130 The purpose of conducting this research is to investigate whether there is a significant effect of using audio digital stories on improving students’ listening comprehension at the third grade of SMAN 8 Kendari. The subject of this study was all students in class XII IPA 1 of SMAN 8 Kendari which consist of 24 students. The instrument of this study was listening test which consisted of 15 numbers in C-test question and 10 numbers in Multiple choice. The researcher collected data by giving pre-test to the class to know students’ listening comprehension, gave the treatment which the researcher conducted teaching and learning process by using audio digital stories, gave the post-test to know students’ listening comprehension after being taught by using audio digital stories. The data are analyzed by using SPSS 16 version. The result shows that there is a development of the students’ listening comprehension. It can be seen from the mean score of post-test is 70,25, while the mean score of pre-test is 46,00. In order to prove the hypothesis, the researcher took the conclusion by comparing between the value of Sig. (2 tailed) with the significance Ï value. It shows that the value of Sig.(2 tailed) is 0,000 while the significance Ï value is 0,05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the value of Sig.(2 tailed) lower than the value of significance Ï value (0,000 < 0,05). In other words, the null hypothesis (H0) is totally rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is completely accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using Audio Digital Stories on improving students’ listening comprehension at the third grade of SMAN 8 Kendari.
