ABSTRACT
Disinfectants are defined as chemical compounds that have bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties. Disinfectants have different properties within each brand and have a level of effectiveness in each different concentrations. Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus is a major cause of infection in hospitals. This study aims to determine the ratio of disinfectant floor cleaner X and Y in the growth of Methicillin Resistant staphylococcus aureus. This type of research is true experimental with posttest design with control. The method used in this study is a phenol coefficient. Research on statistical test of Kruskal Wallist there is a difference between concentrations with value sig 0.167> 0.005. While the statistical test Mann Whitney test there are differences in the effectiveness of disinfectants X and Y with value sig 0.000 <0.05. Disinfectant X has an active ingredient content of 2.5% pine oil (pine oil) without the mixture of other materials while the disinfectant ingredients Y has a material consisting of cresol 50% and soap 50%. The effectiveness of disinfectants X concentration on the growth of Methicillin Resistant staphylococcus aureus colonies are concentration of 2.5% and the effectiveness of the disinfectant concentration Y in the growth of colonies of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus is a concentration of 5%. Conclusion There are differences in the effectiveness study between X and Y disinfectant against Methicillin Resistant staphylococcus aureus. Suggestions of research should be to pay attention to the procedures for the use of an effective disinfectant in hospitals.
