Abstract :
This study aims to analyze the superior commodities in the agricultural sector, to analyze the position of each subsector of agricultural, and to analyze the shift of agricultural setor growth in the economic structure of Simalungun Regency. Method of determining area used in this research is method purposive sampling area. The method of analysis used is the method of analysis Location Quotient (LQ), typology klassen and shift share. The results showed that the cassava is a superior commodity (base) in food crops, cabbage is a base commodity in horticultural crops, coffe and aren is a base commodity in plantation crops, and cattle is the base on livestock. The plantation subsector is in quadrant I (advanced and fast growing subsector), food, horticulture, livestock and forestry subsectors are in quadrant II (advanced but depressed subsector), and fishery subsector are in quadrant IV (relatively lagging subsector). The result of shift share analysis showed about total growth of positive agricultural sector.
