Abstract :
UMK (Micro and Small Business) in blacksmith in Tapanuli Utara Regency has been the livelihood or creative economy of craftsmen since hundreds of years ago by Lake Toba such as at Sitampurung Village, Siborong-Borong Subdistrict, Tapanuli Utara Regency. The Data were primary data with 190 respondents. The research usedvmultiple linear regression analysis or Ordinary Least Square (OLS) with Stratified Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 in aalyzing the data. The hypothesis was that capital had positive influence on the income of UMK (bl = 0.519); this influence was proved in predicting the income of UMK (p-value < 0.05) so that the hypothesis was accepted. Blacksmith business is categorized as UMK which has its contribution to meeting the needs of agricultural and plantation community as the livelihood and employment for the local people. The data were obtained directly from the blacksmiths themselves through interviews and questionnaires. The population was the blacksmiths at Sitampurung Village, Siborong-Borong Subdistrict, Tapanuli Utara Regency. They survive by only using simple equipment. However, they have to face competitiveness with modern and varied products sold in the market, but they believe that it is not an obstacle for them to always produce their products. The result of the research in the field showed that initial capital had positive and significant influence wages did not have significant influence, the length of business had positive and significant influence, the length of business process had positive and significant influence, business operating hours had positive and significant influence, and the number of product variations had positive and significant influence. The conclusion was that this business has survived since hundreds of years ago even though they only have limited and traditional equipment.
