Abstract :
This study aims to determine the best combination of filler composition of the oil palm biomass combustion ash with the addition of rice husk ash which is then applied to the matrix hydrated for High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) to increase the thermal and mechanical properties. The research methodology includes, raw material preparation, specimen printed using injection molding, and composites testing. Fixed variables are matrix composition with filler (90:10), the variable changed is the composition of the filler (palm oil fuel ash : rice ), namely (70:30, 80:20 and 90:10) and rice husk ash combustion temperature 400ºC and 500 °C. Tests conducted on composite spectroscope is a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) ASTM E1131, ISO 11 358, ISO 527 Tensile Strength, and Strength bump ISO 179, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Results obtained increased thermal and mechanical properties of the composite HIPS filled oil palm biomass combustion ash and rice husk ash, filler composition best combination of oil palm biomass combustion ash with the addition of rice husk ash is 70:30 with a combustion temperature of 500 °C
