Abstract :
Early marriage is a marriage conducted in less than 18 years. Early marriage causes pregnancy and childbirth at a young age, which is associated with a high maternal mortality rate and abnormal conditions because the body is not fully prepared to accept pregnancy and childbirth. Complications made by young pregnant women during pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium will increase maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. This study aims to reveal the status of reproductive health (neonatal maternal) between mothers who married at a young age and married mothers. This type of research is survey research with cross sectional design. The sampling technique used is probability sampling with random sampling. The research location was in the village of Hapesong Lama, Batang Toru Subdistrict, with a sample of 78 people. Primary data sources were obtained by questionnaires and secondary data obtained from data from the Hapesong Lama Village office, Batang Toru District and South Tapanuli BPS. The results showed that there were differences in the incidence of miscarriage (p = 0.046), anemia of pregnancy (p = 0.020), pregnancy poisoning (preeclampsia / eclampsia) (p = 0.008), prolonged labor (p = 0.020), premature / low birth weight (p = 0.028 ) and reproductive health status (p = 0,000) between married mothers of young age and mothers of healthy reproductive age. The conclusion of this study is that there are differences in reproductive health between married mothers of young age and mothers of reproductive health. It is advisable to seek more extensive preventive measures by related sectors to prevent the occurrence of early marriages related to pregnancy complications in adolescence, revive youth activities of mosques and youth clubs, and increase the role of direct parents to educate children to be wise and responsible in determining the decision to marry.
