Abstract :
HIV and AIDS are the diseases of the world?s attention. This disease is characterized by a decrease in the immune system. Indonesia is the second highest country after India which has HIV and AIDS cases in South-East Asia Region. TB (Tuberculosis) is the highest co-infection (opportunistic infection) in HIV and AIDS. This study aims to analyze the risk factors for TB-HIV incidence in PLWHA at the HKBP Balige Committee Service. This study uses analytic international studies with the unpaired case control study design. The population of this study was all PLWHA diagnosed with TB and Non-TB who came to the HKBP Balige AIDS Committee Services 2017. The sample in this study was 41 HIV positive people with TB with a total sample and 41 PLWHA not TB with saturated samples. Data analysis was performed with the stages of univariate analysis, bivariate with Chi-square test and multivariate using multiple logistic regression. The results showed that the variables influencing the incidence of TB-HIV coinfection in PLWHA were sex (OR=20.475, 95% CI: 4.357-96.21; p=<0.001), nutritional status (OR=3.845, 95% CI: 1.380-8.798; p=0.014), smoking habit (OR=3.386, 95% CI: 1.296-8.845; p=0.021), HIV Stage (OR=10.165, 95% CI: 3.307-31.246; p=<0.001), and ARV treatment (OR=10.165, 95% CI: 3.307-31.246; p=<0.001). The most dominant variables affecting the incidence of TB-HIV coinfection in PLWHA were sex variables (OR=16.549, 95% CI: 2.566-107.145; p=0.003) which means that PLWHA male sex estimated risk 16 times to suffer from TB-HIV compared to female ODHA. PLWHA who is male more at risk of becoming TB in order to pay attention to their lifestyle. Because lifestyle or poor behavior makes it easier for HIV to damage the immune system so that other infections are easy to enter, such as Tb germs and other comorbidities.
