Abstract :
Medan Baru is one of districts in Medan. Vegetation in the city area are very diverse. It is the need to know the condition of the vegetation. This research was conducted from April until June 2018 in District of Medan Baru, Medan, North Sumatra. This research was conducted by doing Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) analysis to find out the distribution of values. Classification of NDVI values was conducted to have density classes in Medan Baru. The change analysis between year 2007 and 2018 shows the biggest increase in Sub District of Medan Baru is in low density class which is 41.90 hectares or 7.66% while the biggest decrease is medium dense class with area of 51.65 hectares or 9.43%. By the research finding, it is important to maintain the presence of vegetation in Medan Baru in supporting good environmental quality.
