Abstract :
Increased agricultural sector is needed in sufficient demand for food to play a role in improving the national economy through export results. Kabanjahe district is the highest tomato producer in Karo Regency. Almost all farmers do spraying using pesticides to improve agricultural yields. This research type is descriptive research. The research was conducted by identifying and assessing the source of risk the use of pesticides. The aim of this research is to explain the value of risk in the work process by describing the process of safety and health analysis by using semiquantitative method to determine the level of consequences, probability and exposure of each risk. From the overall process obtained 21 health and safety risk. Level of risk calculation result 11 (53%) risk at risk level require priority 3 in preparation, calibration, application and waste disposal, 7 (33%) risk at acceptable risk level in preparation, calibration, application and waste disposal, and 3 (14% ) risk at the level of risk requires improvement (substantial) in preparation, calibration, and application. Advice given to reduce occupational safety and health risks to pesticide spraying farmers should use personal protective equipment, spray in the direction of the wind, inspect spraying equipment and not throw away pesticide packs indiscriminately.
