Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to know the guava trading channel, the functions performed by each agency of trading, the cost, the profit margin received by each agency in each channel, and to know the efficiency level of guava trading in the research area. Method of determining area of research conducted by purposive sampling. The method of determining the sample done by census with guava farmer population about 44 family head and the sample size taken as the representation of population using Slovin formula for 30 samples of producers (guava farmers) conducted by Simple Random Sampling method. For the institution involved determined by the method of Snowball Sampling where, there are 2 samples of collecting merchants, 3 samples of wholesalers, and 14 samples of retailers. Data collection methods used are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis method used is descriptive analysis to analyze the pattern of guava trading channel in the research area, the functions performed by each guava trading agency, the analysis of the trading margin, and the analysis of the efficiency of the trading. The results concluded that there are two guava trading channels in Desa Tanjung Anom, Kecamatan Pancur Batu, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, namely: Channel I: Producers - Wholesalers - Large Wholesalers - Retailers - Consumers and Channels II: Manufacturers - Retailers - Consumers. The margin of Guaranteed Tariff I at the farmer level is divided into: Jakarta area of 0.07%, Batam 0.08%, local quality of local produce 0.24%, and Aceh by 0.14%. The margin of Guaranteed II trading channel at farmer level is 0,28% and at retailer level 0,36%. The efficiency of the guava trading channel in the research area in Guava I guideline is greater than that of Aceh, Batam, and guava of the quality of local residual 2.22, 2.10, 1.48, and 1.03. Meanwhile, the efficiency of the guava trading channel II is 1.74.
