Abstract :
A company needs resources and one of them is human resources that have logic, feeling, capacity, skill, knowledge, motivation, power, and work. All these potencies have significant influence on an organization?s efforts to achieve its goal. The objective of this research was to find out and to analyze the influence of individual capacity, work environment, and motivation on work satisfaction. The population was 142 permanent employees of Bumiputera 1912 Mutual Life Insurance in Medan, and 104 of them were used as the samples. The data were analyzed by using multiple regression analysis and path analysis. The result of the first substructure showed that individual capacity and work environment simultaneously had positive and significant influence on motivation. Partially, there was direct positive and significant influence of individual capacity and work environment on motivation. The result of the second substructure showed that individual capacity, work environment, and motivation simultaneously had significant influenceon work satisfaction. Partially, there was direct positive and significant influence of individual capacity on work satisfaction, and there was positive but insignificant influence of work environment and motivation on work satisfaction., It was also found that there was indirect influence of individual capacity on work satisfaction through motivation and the influence of work environment on work satisfaction through motivation although the coefficient of direct influence was bigger; therefore, the real influence was direct influence.
