Abstract :
Cocoa planting material is the basic capital to achieve high cocoa production, so it needs a good breeding. This research is useful to know the growth response of cocoa seedlings (Theobroma cacao L.) on the composting of cocoa husk and palm oil liquid waste. This research was conducted at experimental field of Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sumatra Utara, Medan which is ± 32 m above sea level from November 2017 until January 2018. The research used Factorial Random Block Design with 2 factors: cocoa leaf compost (0g, 100g, 200g, and 300g/polybag) and oil palm liquid waste (0 ml, 75 ml, and 150 ml/aplication). The results showed 100 g giving stem diameter, fresh shoot weight, and higher dry shoot weight, while no liquid waste resulted in the highest number of leaves, fresh shoot weight, and dry shoot weight. The interaction between treatments showed no significant effect on all parameters. For best growth, it is best to give 100 g cocoa leather compost with no oil palm liquid waste.
