Abstract :
This paper departs from two opposing assumptions, where on the one hand, real
service is the main aspect according to Jesus' message (cf. Matt. 25:40), while prayer is the
umpteenth place. Furthermore, on the other hand there is an understanding that God is all
good so God knows what He should give His people and does not need humans to come to
Him all the time. According to Gloria Polo, today's believers pray is not a dynamic
communication with God but pray to God when there is a need. Actually, this assumption
creates a distance between humans and the God they believe in. Therefore, when there are
difficulties and suffering, people assume that God is not in their lives. This view is supported
by traditional atheists by building a basic thought concept that "if there is suffering then God
does not exist". Thus, humans find it difficult to endure suffering and deify technology that
often offers the wealth of happiness in a safe and universal world.
The prophet Elijah was a well-known contemplative in his day and is still relevant
today. He is also famous because he was a warrior for justice for the Israelites who were
oppressed by King Ahab, Jesebel's husband. The name Elijah, in his mother tongue "Eliyahu"
which means "My God is Yahweh". He was known as a warrior for justice, and underlying
his struggle was his deep relationship with Yahweh. Elijah's prayer life was very unique and
interesting and different from other Prophets. Elijah's prayer life can be found in (1 Kings 1719:1-13).
Elijah's prayer life ?influenced? those who were suffering, poor, neglected,
discriminated against and other suffering, to lead them to find God. However, according to
liberals prayer is not important and has no effect in the work of ministry and prayer as an
insert in the work of ministry. This liberal view is refuted by conservatives who assert that
prayer is the most important element in pastoral care because God himself comes down
directly to help people in trouble. According to Messahk, prayer is an important element in
the context of mentoring and guidance in serving others to face life's challenges. He asserted
that prayer will heal human problems physically, spiritually, psychologically and socially
faced by every human being. In addition, according to Gray, Elijah's prayer that raised the
widow's son in Zarephath was not the influence of Elijah's prayer life but the Magic culture
of that era. Gray's view was refuted by Ronald Allen, that Elijah acted this way because he
was a godly man before God, he believed that God could do anything. According to the
author, the views of liberals and Gray override the importance of prayer in every ministry. In
the work of ministry, prayer is not an insertion activity but as a fundamental force or driving
spirit in any ministry. Therefore, reflecting on the views of agree and disagree, the writer
refers to Elijah's prayer life that Elijah is able to do the great work that Yahweh has entrusted
to him because he lives in silence, works and returns to silence. That means, how important
prayer life in Elijah's life. the views of liberals and Grays override the importance of prayer in

Carmelites have a special relationship with Elijah so that Carmelites are often
juxtaposed with Elijah. Through interviews and questionnaire questions, some of the
confreres acknowledged that in their actual ministry, Elijah's prayer life really influenced
them in their real ministry. The work of the Carmelites' ministry consisted of caring for the
categorical groups that came into direct
