Abstract :
Diabetes is a disease caused by the body's inability to make or use insulin properly. Diabetic ulcers are the most feared complication of DM patients. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the degree of diabetic ulcers and changes in body image of diabetes mellitus patients at Sentra Medika Cisalak Hospital. The benefit is to increase knowledge and scientific insight regarding the relationship between the degree of diabetic ulcers and changes in body image in diabetes mellitus patients. The research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional study design. This research was carried out from November 2022 to February 2023 at Sentra Medika Cisalak Hospital, with a sample of 57 diabetes sufferers. The research instrument uses a questionnaire, data collection is based on respondents' answers and researchers' statements and answers to questions consist of a Diabetic Ulcer Observation Sheet and a Body Image Change Questionnaire using a Likert Scale. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi Square test. The results of the research showed that the frequency distribution of respondents was based on the degree of injury with the majority of respondents being in the category 5 of diabetic ulcers with 32 respondents (56.1%). Frequency distribution of changes in body image of respondents with the majority being maladaptive, 33 respondents (57.9%), indicating that there is a relationship between the degree of diabetic ulcers and changes in body image at Sentra Medika Cisalak Hospital in 2022. It is hoped that through this research the community will adopt a healthier lifestyle. to avoid various risks of diabetes mellitus.
