Abstract :
This is the final research report, which makes up the second component of the graduating project. The first part of the graduation project, the preliminary research report, outlined and defined all the issues pertinent to civil engineering. The result of one of these challenges that was picked to be developed further is described in this paper. People's unpleasant lifestyles in Somaliland's Oodweyne village as a result of inadequate water sources have been selected as the primary study's chosen issue. Condensation plant will be built to accommodate the village with a steady source of water. This report consists of a plan to make a system that is needed to transport water from the condensation plant to the agriculture fields. The content of this plan will be various calculations that are important to the design, drawings of the design, and several information about maintenance. After further research, the best way to convey water safely and with the amount of water needed for the agriculture field is by using a water pipeline buried underground. Giving information on how to properly build a water pipeline system is the first step of this plan. Choosing how much the flow rate needed which is 500 m3/hour and 250 m3/hour, it allows this project to calculate the inner diameter for the pipe needed to supply the agriculture fields with 1190 m3/day. The chosen pipe diameter to be used for this report will be 270 mm and 220 mm. Determining the velocity is also needed to know whether it is acceptable for the pressure inside the pipe or the other way, using a variety of calculations based on tools that may or may not be used for the scenario, such as pumps. Another part that is essential to be noted is calculating pressure inside the pipe. Because by knowing the pressure, it will be easier for the client to find the right product and manufacturer of the pipe. Each manufacturer must meet a specific demand from the buyer before ordering the product. Utilizing energy and hydraulic grade line formula can determine how much pressure at the start of the pipeline for each scenario. Then, by calculating the value of pressure loss, the pressure at the end of the pipe can be discovered. This project system starts at the large water storage from the condensation plant with a height of 18 meters. With the immense height of the water storage, there will be some things affecting the pipeline that needs to be observed or noticed. The amount of water coming out of the aperture generated by water storage fully filled with water will be 3614,4 m3/h with a velocity of 18 m/s. Because the allowable velocity of the water inside the pipe cannot reach more than 2,4 m/s, a solution is needed to stop and hold the amount of water and pressure. A globe valve will be installed at the aperture to hold the water from storage and regulate the amount of water that will travel inside the pipeline going to the agriculture fields. To determine how much flow of water that is travelling inside the pipeline, a flowmeter is installed after the globe valve. An idea came up to build an underground water storage near the agriculture fields to help the irrigation system. Because of the difference in diameter between the water pipe and the irrigation pipe, making the irrigation system only transport a small amount of flow. Water storage is important to keep the water first, then the water can be used to irrigate the fields. With various types and volumes, the one that will be used in the design of this project is underground water storage with a volume of 1011 m3. A product that might interest the clients is a water storage company called Citerneo located in France. It is a water storage manufactured using a flexible and light material so that it can be moved or folded when it is not used, and pre-built. Two alternative plans that can be used to transport the water from the condensation plant water storage to the agriculture fields is water tanker truck and heavy weight lifting drone. For lifting drones as of right now it is still quite impossible, because the price of a single drone is still quite high only to be used as water transport tools. Therefore, the alternative plan that can be used as an emergency plan when the water pipeline needs maintenance is water tanker truck. Varieties of plans will be given, each with its own water tank volume and the amount of water the truck can carry. Resulting in different scenarios with various amount of back and forth starting from the condensation plant water storage to the agriculture fields, calculated with the average speed of 30 km/h for the truck. Costs for each item needed to complete the construction of each scenario of the water pipeline, as well as the price required to excavate each size of pipe with the amount of money used for labour salary is given.
