Abstract :
The development of the broadcasting industry in the country is growing
rapidly over time. Banyumas TV as one of the private local television stations in
the city of Purwokerto, wants to develop that transmission system better. Until
now, BMSTV still uses microwave waves emitted point-to-point from television
stations to transmitter towers as network backbones. A considerable distance of
around 15 km, and geographical topology conditions that have uneven terrain
contours, passing hilly areas and many obstacles, are factors that influence signal
quality, especially when it is raining. Fiber To The Tower (FTTT) is the right
solution for the case, if applied to replace the point-to-point microwave
transmission system. In this design, the FTTT was designed to connect the BMSTV
Pabuaran Station, with the transmitter tower in Gunung Binangun, Krumput ± 15
km away. Based on the simulation results show the parameter value of Power
Link Budget (PLB) is 6,76 dB. Rise Time Budget calculation results is 0,85449 ns,
because the tsystem value is smaller than the time limit value for NRZ encoding
which is 0.28 ns and 0.14 for RZ coding. The results of the design performance for
BER and Q-Factor simulation value is 0, and Q-Factor value is 321,961. From
the BER and Q-Factor results, it can be said that it has appropriate the ITU-T
G.984 standard with an ideal BER value in optical fiber transmission is 10
, and
the ideal value for Q-Factor is 6.
