Abstract :
Network Design Optical access in this study briefly is a cable transmission, in
order to distribute internet services to the user. Increasing service quality began
to change the copper access network into an access network using fiber optics
with bandwidth that can be used to reach 2.5 GHz to meet service needs such as
voice, data and video using fiber optic communication systems and in every place
requires fast communication access.
In the case study this final project was designed to design an optical
access network at Grand Candi Hotel Semarang to support and support the needs
of users in improving internet services. The method used in this design is to use
15.0 optisystem software and XGPON technology with a data rate of 2.5 Gbps for
10 Gbps upstream for downstream. This design calculates the Power Link Budget
parameter, the Rise Time Budget to test the feasibility of the system, the
parameter values are calculated manually and compared with the results using
optical simulator software.
The manual calculation results on the power link budget uses a power
variation between 1 to 5 dBm and for the best results using 2 dBm of power with a
total attenuation value of 20,064 dB and a power margin of 3,936 dBm for
upstream and 3,436 dBm for downstream for results that meet the margin value
standard no. more than -28 dBm, then the Bit Error Rate results obtained from the
simulation are 1.52304x10-23 and this value meets the standard set from BER
maximum value ≤ 10-9. Whereas in the rise time budget calculation there is a Tr
value of the NRZ encoding and the value for upstream is 140 ps and 70 ps and the
standard tsystem value is smaller than the time limit for each coding.
