Abstract :
The transmission process in fiber optic communication systems caused of
Interference by attenuation and dispersion in DWDM technology can be minimized with
optical amplifiers. on optical amplifiers there are several methods, one of which is the
hybrid method, hybrid amplifier combines several optical amplifiers in one optical link.
In this research on DWDM system design will be using 16 channels with 100 Ghz
channel spacing and 100 km optical link length and use Bidirectional optical fiber. Use
Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) and Raman Optical Amplifier (ROA). The
research was conducted by varying the input power variations of laser -8, -6, -4, -2, 0, 2,
and 4 dBm with 40 Gbps bitrate with two research scenarios. Analysis of the link budget
calculation in this research does not calculate all the losses that occur in an optical fiber.
In the first scenario, the EDFA amplifier is placed before the pump ROA and the second
scenario of the EDFA amplifier is placed after the pump ROA. Based on the results of the
testing that has been done with the positioning of the EDFA-ROA hybrid optical amplifier
affecting the results obtained on the observed parameters. The first scenario is better for
the Bit error rate (BER) and Q-Factor parameters then the second scenario is better for
the received power parameter. Based on the results of the tests obtained, use variations in
laser input power, and with two different scenarios getting good performance and the
results obtained according to the specified standards.
