Abstract :
Telecommunications technology, especially the internet is growing, both in terms
of technology and users. One of the most widely used Internet services is the website which
is a means of providing the information needed and its use is very wide such as education,
health, government and others. But increasing the number of web users can cause web
server down. Overcoming these problems, used load balancing technology that helps divide
traffic to multiple servers thereby minimizing server load. Based on the above, research is
needed to prove the performance improvement experienced by web server when using load
balancing. To prove this matter in this research made two scenarios that is using load
balancing server with least connection algorithm and without using load balancing server.
Testing the sharing of traffic on the load balancing system is done using 30 users who do
access simultaneously, with the number of access each user as much as 5 times. From the
test results obtained the distribution of traffic by 36% on web server 1, on web server 2 of
32.67%, and on web server 3 of 31.33%. Testing error error parameters, average click
time, and throughput is done by requesting a web server service using 100 users, 250 users,
500 users, 1000 users, and 2000 users. From the test, the value of performance
improvement when using load balancing server is 23,41% in click error parameter, 25,39%
in parameter of click time, and 12,97% in parameter of throughput.
