Abstract :
Reliability of a network can be reflected in the availability of connection services offered
to users. In general situation, reliability can be defined as the endurance of a system to
work failure. To improve the reliability of the network requires a reliable gateway to
connect between the local network and outside network. The availability of a gateway as a
connection entrance can be a determinant factor of reliability of a network. Therefore, it
takes a gateway redundance system as one of the guarantee to network users to keep getting
reliable connection service. With a gateway redundance, a set of routers work together as
one virtual router to a host on a local network. Redundance gateways can combine multiple
physical gateway interfaces into a single logical gateway interface. In this research using
the Quality of Service (QoS) parameter to test the quality of services in the GLBP protocol.
The results of throughput in condition 1 is 70.15 Mbits / s, in condition 2 is 61.99 Mbits / s
and in condition 3 is 49.52 Mbits / s. For the results of delay in condition 1 is 0.075 ms, in
condition 2 is 0.079 ms, and in condition 3 is 0.207 ms. The result of jitter in condition 1 is
0.151 ms, in condition 2 is 0.158 ms and in condition 3 is 0.414 ms. For packet loss
parameters, all conditions have a value of 0%. From the test results prove that differences
in conditions can affect the value of Quality of Service (QoS). From the results of the tests
that have been done, the overall QoS prameter test results in the redundance gateway
network using the GLBP protocol can still maintain the quality of the service even in the
condition of link - failover. This proves the GLBP protocol has high availability and
reliability.
