Abstract :
Communication is a priority need at this time, it is influenced by the development of
technology that continues to grow. Therefore, service users need a technology that provides
high-speed access to get maximum video, voice and data services. This research will compare
GPON technology with XGPON on FTTB networks at Taman Kemayoran Condominium
Apartments. Analysis of the performance of the two technologies was also carried out in order
to know whether GPON technology was still able to provide the best service to be enjoyed by
service users in the apartment. This final project begins with conducting field surveys,
determining devices and specifications, making network simulations with an optisystem. As
well as performing calculations with power link budget parameters, rise time budget and bit
error rate. In this study the power to be used for downstream is 2 dBm and 2 dBm for upstream.
Power link budget values for downstream GPON and XGPON are -20.92 dBm and -21.14 for
upstream GPON and XGPON. Whereas for the calculation of rise time budget on the GPON
downstream is 0.15 ns and 0.049 ns for the XGPON downstream, the value obtained still meets
the specified standard of 0.28 ns and 0.07 ns for XGPON. Then the GPON upstream is 0.15
ns and 0.045 ns for the XGPON upstream, the value obtained still meets the specified standard
of 0.56 ns and 0.28 ns for XGPON. The BER parameters for GPON are 6.5 x 10-123 and 1.4
x 10-17 for XGPON, the values obtained still meet the standard of -1010-10. For the Q-factors
obtained are 23.5 and 8.4 for XGPON the values obtained meet the standard of ≥6.3. So, the
GPON and XGPON FTTB networks are designed to be feasible because they meet the
standards set by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia and ITU-T.
