Abstract :
In a Virtual Private Network (VPN) network, a router is needed as a device that passes Internet Protocol (IP) packets from the server to the client, using certain addressing methods and protocols to pass the data packet. In a network topology to send a data used various protocols, namely PPTP (Point to Point Tunneling Protocol), L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol), and EoIP (Ethernet over Internet Protocol). This protocol is widely used as data security that is sent or received. In this network the tunneling method is a technology that is assigned to handle to provide a point-to-point connection from the destination. For this technology called tunnel due to point-to-point connection, the tunnel used by EoIP Tunnel between PPTP and L2TP in the network to process data transmission, therefore this study will compare the performance of PPTP with L2TP on the proxy network. In this study a trial was conducted to determine how well file sharing services with PPTP and L2TP networks with the EoIP Tunnel, then analyzed the QoS parameters of file sharing services in the form of throughput, delay, and packet loss. This test uses 3 scenarios for file sharing services of 5MB, 10MB, and 15MB. The results obtained by the researchers that the average throughput value between the two protocols is better L2TP throughput value increases to 6.6096 Mbps compared to PPTP throughput value decreases, with the average delay value in PPTP more up to 2.5452 (s) than when using L2TP, and the average packet loss on PPTP is greater than 17% compared to L2TP, but packet loss that occurs in variations 5, and 10 Mb each is 0%, KeyWord : Mikrotik, PPTP, L2TP, and EoIP Tunneling.
