Abstract :
Fiber to The Home (FTTH) is the distribution of data information from the central office
to customers using fiber optic cable, which has the ability to support triple play services in
the form of data, voice and video. Along with the increasing demand for data speed, Gigabit
Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology has been developed, one of the development
is the 10-Gigabit-Capable Passive Optical Network (XGPON) technology is expected to
send the data transmission more effectively and optimally. This research aims to design
FTTH network at Taman Anggrek Housing Purwokerto and to know FTTH network
performance using GPON and XGPON technology with 1:4 and 1:8 splitter
configurations. This study examines the effect of bandwidth changes that occur on FTTH
technology from GPON technology development toward XGPON using link power budget,
rise time budget and Bit Error Rate (BER) parameters. Simulation of this research using
optisystem application 14.2. The output obtained from the test results generates a link
power budget the use of 1: 4 splitter amounted to -20.252 dBm, BER amounted to 6.6x10-
161 and the value of the rise time budget worth 0.2506 ns on the downlink for GPON
technologies. For splitter 1:8 generate of link power budget amounted to -19.992 dBm,
BER 4.6x10-52 and the value of the rise time budget worth 0.2553 ns on the uplink for
XGPON technology.
