Abstract :
The world of technology and communication will continue to develop along with the times. Now comes the fifth generation (5G) which has data transfer speed up to 20 Gbps using high frequency of 6 GHz - 100 GHz. The high frequency causes the technology to be sensitive to the influence of nature and its surroundings. The surrounding environment and high frequency are factors that cause signal loss and loss of transmitted data. Loss of data sent can be minimized by channel coding on the system. This study analyzes the Frame Error Rate performance using channel coding polar codes with the Statistical Spatial Channel Model (SSCM) channel on a 5G system using a frequency of 2.3 GHz with a bandwidth of 100 MHz. This research uses Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) modulation and the concept of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) multiplexing. The characteristics of the SSCM channel are presented in a representative Power Delay Profile (PDP) which is obtained as many as 31 paths to represent the power received by the user. This study presents a comparison of the performance of FER with the CP-OFDM system (Uncoded) and FER with channel coding polar codes. The result shows that polar coded FER performance is better than uncoded FER for SSCM channel. This is because the SNR power consumption in polar codes is lower when compared to uncoded FER. On average FER 10?3 , uncoded FER performance must require 41 dB of power while polar coded FER performance only requires 20 dB of power. These results prove that the addition of channel coding polar codes on the SSCM channel at a frequency of 2.3 GHz is able to minimize the SNR value so that it can improve system performance.
