Abstract :
Apology can be a medium of persuasion. Justin Trudeau, known as a young leader of Canada, uses apology to appreciate those who gave fought for Canada in the Cold War yet they were violated and persecuted for being LGBTQ2. His apology is also to make the LGBTQ2 Canadians have the same rights as everyone does. How the apology can be considered as a persuasion will be analyzed based on the components and elements of persuasion by Richard Perloff. This study adopts qualitative research with textual analysis as the method which will use articles and websites and literature study such as theory books. Justin Trudeau uses all persuasion components and elements to apologize and persuade audience to support LGBTQ2 rights. His authority, credibility, and social attractiveness should not be questioned in the application as a persuader. In his apology, his persuasion works with his commitments and being an idol of media.
