Abstract :

T, "Analysis of the occurrence of cooling water corrosion on the cylinder head main air compressor in MV.DK-02", Engineering Thesis, Diploma IV Program, Semarang Sailing Science Polytechnic, Advisor I Dwi Prasetyo, MM, M.Mar.E, Advisor II RAJ Susilo Hadi Wibowo. S, IP., MM Air compressor is an auxiliary plane on board that is used to produce pressurized air to meet the needs, especially as a walker air for the operation of main engines and auxiliary diesel generators. The damage to the air compressor main cylinder head is caused by corrosion factors between it. 1). Material fatigue due to high operating hours 2). Water changes, 3) Temperature changes, 4). Humidity, in the MV. DK-02 is caused by the intergaranular corrosion factor between the grain boundaries. The aim of the researchers is to analyze what factors cause corrosion in the cylinder head playing the air compressor and to find out what efforts are being made so that the Cylinder Head Main Air Compressor is not quickly exposed to corrosion in the MV.DK-02. This study uses qualitative descriptive method with data analysis techniques of fishbone analysis and fault tree analysis, which is to look for causal factors and failure factors. Data collection was carried out by direct observation, interviews, and literature study (documentation), by observing during the overhaul at MV.DK-02, namely checking visually when water entered into carter oil and jacket cooling cleaning to reduce heat on the engine that made the pH of the water changes and becomes a pile of crystals to prevent corrosion.
