Yunus Darmawan, 2018, NIT: 51145362. T, "The effect of eroding the cathode and anode on Marine Growth Prevention System (MGPS) to the sea water cooling system on the ship MV Pan Bonita", diploma IV study program , Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang, 1st supervisor H. Agus Hadi Purwantomo, M.Mar MGPS works with electrolyte methods or principles that work to provide continuous protection without the use of chemicals material. By merging two systems that is installation of anti-fouling pipe and corrosion suppression. By controlling a low voltage power supply panel which is channeled to an anode connected directly to the fluid within the pipeline to minimize the effect of the acidity of the liquid level on the corrosion process along the pipeline installation. This system consists of a pair of copper and aluminum which is called anode mounted on the filter entering the liquid to be neutralized. The copper anode produces ions flowing through the liquid medium in direct contact with it. The ion may inhibit the growth of shells and barnacles along the anode current flow range. Without the protection of anti-fouling pipes, pipes may be full of long-standing organisms that can lead to blockages thereby reducing system efficiency in pipeline installations. The method used in this thesis is the method of fishbone analysis and fault tree analysis as a method to determine the problem factors and events that exist in the problem. The problem formulation of this research is what factors cause the eroding of the cathode and anode, what impact is caused, and what efforts are made to the problem. The results of this study indicate that the erosion of the cathode and anode in MGPS is due to the buildup of the crust, the growth of shells and barnacles, and the corrosion of the MGPS output pipe which can inhibit the formation of electric current. Keywords: MGPS, anode, katode, Fishbone Analysis, and fault tree analysis
