penilaian. Thin Capitalization berpengaruh terhadap Tax Avoidance, sebagai
praktik penghindaran pajak yang legal. Konservatisme akuntansi melalui
karakteristik eksekutif tidak berpengaruh terhadap tax avoidance. Konservatisme
akuntansi dibutuhkan karakteristik eksekutif yang risk adverse sedangkan tax
avoidance membutuhkan karakteristik eksekutif yang risk taker.

ABSTRACT
Tax avoidance is carried out by managers to streamline the welfare of
shareholders. Executives will use their ability to manage fiscal profits and
accounting by utilizing the differences in two policies, namely the taxation and
accounting standards. The Indonesian taxation system that adheres to a selfassessment
system gives taxpayers the freedom to calculate their tax rates and
choose methods according to tax regulations. One of the factors that determine the
level of conservatism in financial reporting of a company is the commitment of
management and internal parties in providing information that is transparent,
accurate, and not misleading to investors. Tax avoidance is also influenced by
other factors besides accounting. The Directorate General of Taxes issued anti-tax
avoidance, one of which is thin capitalization.
The research objective was to examine and analyze the effect of accounting
conservatism on Tax Avoidance, the effect of thin capitalization on Tax
Avoidance and the effect of accounting conservatism through executive
characteristics of Tax Avoidance. The research method used is a quantitative
approach to the design of quality research. The object of research is a
manufacturing company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for three years
from 2015-2017 with a total sample of 42 companies. The result of hypothesis
testing is accounting conservatism does not affect tax avoidance, because of the
shift in the principle of conservatism after the IFRS convergence which raises Fair
Value besides Historical Cost as an option in valuation. Thin capitalization has an
effect on Tax Avoidance, as a legal tax avoidance practice. Accounting
conservatism through executive characteristics does not affect tax avoidance.
Accounting conservatism is needed by the characteristics of executives who are
risk averse while tax avoidance requires the characteristics of a risk taker
executive.
