ABSTRACT Rizqi Wahyu Saputra. An Analysis of Students? Interest in Learning English During Pandemic Covid-19 at the Eleventh Grade IPS of SMAN Tulakan. Thesis. STKIP PGRI Pacitan. 2020. Education is something that is very important for one's future. The success of learning reflects that a person has been sincere in every learning process. The Covid-19 pandemic forces the government to apply the learning at home rule. This rule becomes a challenge for how teachers can maintain student interest in learning. This study aims: 1) To know the students' interest to follow distance learning during pandemic covid-19, 2) To know the influence factors of interest in learning during distance learning, 3) To know the distance learning could fulfill the principles of effective teaching and learning. In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method. The research subjects were 45 students of class XI IPS. The data collection methods were obtained from observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques using data obtained from the results of the questionnaire with indicators 1) Excellent, 2) Good, 3) Fair, 4) Poor. The result of this research is students' interest to follow distance learning because they felt relaxes in collecting assignments. Factors that affect students' interest in learning towards English subjects in class XI IPS at SMAN Tulakan, namely pleasure, students' involvement, interest and students' attention. From the results of the questionnaire that has been distributed to students, they got a high enough score and that means they had an interest in learning English lessons at SMAN Tulakan. Learning conducted at SMAN Tulakan can not be said to be able to fulfill the description of the principles of effective teaching and learning. This was evidenced by the results of interviews with teachers. Therefore, the ranks of educators at SMAN Tulakan included take risks by doing learning during and offline. Where students had to go to school for 3 days a week to conduct learning evaluations. This was done to find out the shortcomings during the distance learning process. Keywords: Students?
