Abstract :
f tourism used and managed properly, tourism can be used as an agent of cultural
preservation. Alamendah Tourism Village is developing tourism in its village so
progressively that it can affect various aspects of life in it, that includes the
preservation of pencak silat. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the
contribution of tourism in the preservation of pencak silat in the Alamendah
Tourism Village which is examined through the protection of traditional culture
according to UNESCO (2001:5-6). The research method used in this study is a
qualitative approach and presented descriptively. The results show that tourism has
a contribution in preserving the pencak silat. In tangible aspects, tourism has
provide the ability to preserve the pencak silat instruments. Furthermore, in
intangible aspects, tourism contributes through creativity, regulation, cultural
inheritance, and cultural interactions that arise due to the encouragement of
tourism. Moreover, the existence of pencak silat in Alamendah Tourism Village has
become increasingly visible since it was involved in tourism and managed to get
support from various stakeholders. Even so, the tourism activities need to be
considered and controlled nicely so it does not inflict any negative impacts towards
the cultural values that exist in the Alamendah Tourism Village
