Abstract :
This research discussed animus personality on the female characters in Roth?s Divergent Novel. Based on Carl Gustav Jung, anima and animus are the mirror image of our biological sex, which is the unconscious feminine side in males and the masculine side in women. This research wants to describe female characters who have animus personality in Roth?s novel. Therefore, most of the female characters in this novel showed her interested in man activities such as fight, used a gun, and other man activities, and it can be assumed as animus personality. This research used the animus theory from Carl Gustav Jung and an archetypal approach to help the writer conducted the research. Therefore, the writer also used Carl Jung?s animus stage of development in done the analysis on female characters in Divergent. The research used a qualitative descriptive method and library research because the research included collecting the data, analyzing the data, interpreting the data, and concluding the data. The findings of the analysis showed Tris, Christina, and Natalie Prior in the Divergent novel have animus personality and it showed that, those characters did masculine activities such as, fight, used a gun, and other man activities that showed in their behavior and the way their do the actions and do something with related to animus characteristic there are, Man of Action, Man of Action, Man of Word, and Man as a Spiritual Guide.
