Abstract :
Speaking is one of important skills that must be mastered by a language learner, because it is as a kind of skill used to show that the people have superiority in mastering the language. Speaking has some important aspects which must be considered by learners, such as grammar. The purposes of the present study are to know the types of grammatical error and the causal factor of the error that produced by non-formal education student in speaking. The writer uses qualitative research as the research design of this study. There are five students who are selected as participants of this study. The data were obtained in the form of videos of students which are classified base on Surface Structure Taxonomies based on Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982)?s. They are errors of omission, errors of misformation, errors of addition, and errors of misordering. The result of this study shows that students made various kinds of error in their speaking, such as to be as ordinary verb, preposition, tenses, determiner, and subject verb agreement, verb form, and article. Furthermore, the causal factor of the errors they made are Intralingual and Intelingual that referred to negative transfer or mother-tongue interference errors as the result of transfer from their native language.
