Abstract :
The study delves into the interactions between teachers and students within a classroom setting, aiming to discern the types of interactions prevalent and identify the most dominant forms. Conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Ali Fattah Talang Padang, the research focused on eleventh-grade Social Science students and their teachers. Subject selection employed purposive sampling, while data collection techniques encompassed observation tally sheets and audio recordings. The findings unveiled a significant predominance of teacher talk, constituting 50.52% of the overall interaction, with student talk accounting for 36.65%. Notably, approximately 12.84% of the observed time was marked by periods of silence, underscoring the teacher-centric nature of the learning environment, characterized by a prevalent use of questioning techniques by educators.
