Abstract :
In social life, there is a phenomenon called hegemony. Hegemony is an effort and strategy carried out by a social group with great desire to be the dominant group using its intellect and leadership over subordinate group to achieve its goals. This research aims to discuss the overall depiction of hegemony and types of hegemony found in the television series entitled The Politician Season 2 using Antonio Gramsci's theory of hegemony, including the negotiation process and three types of hegemony: integral hegemony, decadent hegemony and minimum hegemony. By using descriptive qualitative research methods, this research shows that there are 23 negotiation process data that describe hegemony in public and private areas directed by dominant group who have an environmentalism ideology towards subordinate group who have a conservatism ideology. In addition, this research shows that overall data produces a type of integral hegemony carried out by dominant group over subordinate group. The dominant group succeeded in achieving its goal of becoming a senator and making the subordinate group consciously accepts the ideology and negotiations of the dominant group. In the context of social life, there is often a process of hegemony carried out by a social group which is not directly realized. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to certain matters that occur around social life in order to understand social phenomena related to hegemony.
