Abstract :
This research is intended to know the students’ vocabulary mastery related
to parts of body. There are two problems stated: 1) to what extent is the students’
vocabulary mastery related to parts of body for the fifth grade students Sekolah
Dasar Negeri 1 Pengadagan in the school year 2014/2015?, and 2) to what extent
is the achievement level of the fifth grade students Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1
Pengadangan in the school year 2014/2015 in vocabulary mastery related to parts
of body?
This research is a descriptive research. The target population of this study
was all the fifth grade students Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Pengadagan. The number
of accessible population of this research was 30 students. In collecting the data,
the writer used multiple choice. The test consisted of 20 questions. The right
answer was given 1 point and 0 point for wrong answer.
Based on the data analysis, the highest score obtained by the students was
20 and lowest was 13. The total variance of the scores was 944.9433 and the mean
score was 16.7. Then, referring to the categories, the students’ vocabulary
mastery related to parts of body was on the high level. Hence, the mean score was
on the level 13.3 up to 19.9. It was concluded that Students’ vocabulary mastery
related to parts of body for the fifth grade students of Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1
Pengadangan in the school year 2014/2015 was 16.7. Based on mean score they
got after being tested, it was shown that the fifth grade students of Sekolah Dasar
Negeri 1 Pengadangan have capability in vocabulary mastery related to parts of
body in spite of in high level.The achievement level of the fifth grade students of
Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Pengadangan in the school year 2014/2015 in
memorizing vocabulary related to parts of body was categorized in high level.
The writer suggests that the English teacher in Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1
Pengadangan should give more exercises about vocabulary to their students and
motivate the students to practice it, whether in the classroom or outside. The
English teacher of Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Pengadangan should vary own
techniques and methods in teaching and learning process. The fifth grade students
of Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Pengadangan are suggested to increase their ability in
mastering the vocabulary items and their learning achievement by studying and
exercising. For further researcher was suggested to investigate and observe
another aspect of vocabulary items and can use this research as reference.
