Abstract :
Insurance is an institution that will take over any risks that may arise or being facing in the future. In other hand, insurance provides protection for the Insured. As one of the problems in carryingout insurance is the rejection of insurance policy claim which are proposed by the Insured to the Insurer beyond various reasons for rejection made. Therefore, the Financial Services Authority can assist the Insured in solving the problem of rejection of insurance policy claims. In dealing with the protection of the Insured toward the rejection of insurance policy claims according to Law Number 21 in 2011 about concerning to the Financial Services Authority, where the role of the Financial Services Authority in the legal system of the Insured?s protection is not only facilitating the protection of the Insured who holds and becomes a mediating institution, but also becomes an institution that make partisanship to the Insured in the form of legal defense activities. It is an effort to prevent violations and recovery of the Insured?s rights in case of loss by the Insured either through litigation or non-litigation. The main problem in this study is how the authority of the Financial Services Authority in the legal protection of the Insured toward the rejection of insurance policy claims in Pekanbaru City and how the efforts and obstacles of the Financial Services Authority to resolve the disputed rejection of insurance policy claims in Pekanbaru City. This research applied empirical law (observational research) which is directly to the Financial Services Authority Office in Pekanbaru City to obtain data. This research is categorized into Descriptive Research which aims to comprehensively describe about the legal protection of the Insured in rejection of insurance policy claims which is submitted to the Financial Services Authority in Pekanbaru City according with Law Number 21 in 2011 About the Authority Financial Services and Financial Services Authority Regulations. The authority of the Financial Services Authority in legal protection against the Insured in refusing insurance policy claims in Pekanbaru City is referred by conducting Regulations, Oversight, and Protection According applicable laws and regulations. The efforts made by the Financial Services Authority to settle disputes over the rejection of insurance policy claims against the Insured are seen in the principles of implementation, which include: the principle of transparency, the principle of fair treatment, the principle of fairness, the principle of confidentiality and security of consumer data/information, the principle of handling complaints. However, the obstacle which obtained by the Financial Services Authority in making an effort to settle disputes over the rejection of insurance policy claims in Pekanbaru City is the lack of information obtained and the lack of consumer understanding of the insurance products to be carried out.
