Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to find out how the function of the music of RarakGodang song Kacimpuong in UlakBotieng in the tradition of the runway on the edge of LubuokSobae, PasarUsang Village, KuantanHilir District, KuantanSingingi Regency, Riau Province. The theories used in the function of the RarakGodang music of the Kacimpuong song in UlakBotieng include (Emotional Expression Functions, (2) Functions About Aesthetic Pleasures, (3) Entertainment Functions, (4) Communication Functions, (5) Symbolic Functions, (6) Physical Response Functions, (7) Functions related to Social Norms, (8) Function of ratification of social institutions, (9) Function of cultural continuity, (10) Community integration The theory used is Alan P. Merriam (1964), the method used in this research This is a descriptive method with an exposure nature. The approach used is a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques are: observation techniques, interview techniques and documentation techniques. The functions contained in the music of RarakGodang Song kacimpuong in Ulakbotieng are: (Function of Emotional Expression, (2 ) Functions About Aesthetic Pleasure (3) Entertainment Functions, (4) Communication Functions, (5) Symbolic Functions, (6) Physical Response Functions, (7) Functions related to Social Norms, ( 8) The function of ratifying social institutions, (9) Functioning of cultural continuity, (10) integrating society Keywords: music analysis of RarakGodang song Kacimpuong in UlakBotieng.
