Abstract :
Regional development at the district / city or provincial level requires identification of achievement characteristics in subsequent development planning efforts. Therefore, this study aims to (1) find out the characteristics of the economic development sectors of Riau Province (2) find out the performance of the Development of 12 Regencies / Cities in Riau Province. To find out the characteristics of the economic sector in Riau Province, it was analyzed using the Klassen Typology technique which consisted of 4 (four) Quadrants namely Quadrant I, high income and high growth, Quadrant II high income but low growth, Quadrant III high growth but low income, and Quadrants IV low growth and low income. While to find out the development performance of 12 districts / cities in Riau Province obtained by using LQ (Location Quotient) analysis tools Siak Regency, Bengkalis Regency and Rokan Hilir Regency are included in the category of depressed regions with high income but low growth. In contrast, Pekanbaru City, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Pelalawan Regency, and Rokan Hulu Regency are classified as developing regions with high growth but low income. Dumai City and Kampar Regency are included in the same quadrant, namely regions with low growth and low income. LQ analysis shows the mining and quarrying sector to be the leading sector in Siak Regency, Bengkalis Regency, Rokan Hilir Regency, and Dumai City. Districts While Pekanbaru City relies more on the trade, hotel and restaurant sector, the manufacturing industry sector, and the fear and communication sector.
